Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and components of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Assist in meal preparation, including slicing, dicing, and portioning food items using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, fryers, mixers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict food safety standards in production and handling
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing ingredients in advance for upcoming service periods
- Follow food safety management protocols to ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and effective communication during busy service hours
Experience
- Previous experience in a food industry setting such as a restaurant, catering service, or dietary department preferred
- Familiarity with dietary aide responsibilities and dietary department procedures is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to meal preparation guidelines
- Experience with food safety standards in production environments is essential
- Strong knife skills and slicing techniques are required for efficient ingredient preparation
- Knowledge of food handling regulations and safety standards in a commercial kitchen setting is necessary
- Prior kitchen or culinary experience that showcases excellent communication with team members and ability to work under pressure
