Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and estate tax returns with precision and clarity.
- Conduct thorough audits and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards.
- Assist clients with estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law to optimize their financial legacies.
- Manage financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
- Provide expert guidance on tax reporting, tax law changes, and regulatory compliance accounting to ensure clients meet all legal requirements.
- Support mergers & acquisitions activities through financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction structuring.
- Communicate complex financial concepts clearly to clients and team members while maintaining high standards of client service.
Skills
- Extensive experience in tax compliance, tax law, and tax reporting for various entities including non-profits and private equity firms.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial tools.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, regulatory reporting requirements, and technical accounting principles.
- Demonstrated ability in auditing, account reconciliation, financial analysis, and financial report writing.
- Knowledge of estate planning strategies including wills, trusts & estate law; LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit); securities law; and corporate tax expertise.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics like double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and asset management clearly.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail in balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, budgeting, and financial statement interpretation.
- Experience in public accounting or private sector finance roles with a focus on individual tax preparation and regulatory compliance.
