Our licensed childcare center is currently hiring two part-time Floater Teachers to support classrooms throughout the day. One position will work primarily 9:00 AM–2:00 PM assisting with lunch breaks and classroom support, while the second position will work 12:30 PM–5:30 PM supporting classroom ratios, assisting with closing classrooms, and helping with end-of-day cleaning and organization duties.
The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, team-oriented, and committed to supporting the mission and values of the YMCA. Floaters must be willing to work with all age groups and assist in any classroom as needed to support the needs of the center. Candidates should also be willing to obtain all required certifications and trainings in accordance with North Carolina childcare licensing requirements if not already completed.
QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 16 years of age; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience working with young children preferred but not required.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of children and adults.

Current CPR, First Aid, and other required state certifications (or ability to obtain within 90 days).

Must meet State Licensing requirements for aide/assistant teacher roles.

Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from lead staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to actively engage with children, including frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, and lifting children up to 40 pounds.

Work is primarily performed in a classroom environment with regular outdoor activities.

Exposure to childhood illnesses, cleaning supplies, and varying noise levels typical of early childhood settings.

Must be able to supervise and interact with children both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
