American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring circulating skills and an active VA or Compact RN license.
-
High-risk Labor & Delivery unit within a teaching hospital with resident coverage
-
Unit includes 16 labor rooms, 6 triage rooms, 6 antepartum rooms, and 3 ORs
-
Level 3 NICU on-site
-
Cares for all OB patients greater than 20 weeks gestation, including preeclampsia, GDM, PPROM, multiples, fetal anomalies, and cardiac defects
-
Dedicated OR team handles scheduled and most add-on C-sections during the day
-
24/7 in-house anesthesia coverage available
-
External cephalic versions performed during the day
-
Average daily census of 15 with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

Every other weekend required
-
No call requirements

Self-scheduling model
-
Uses Omnicell for medication management
-
Documentation in EPIC and OBTV, EPIC Stork/OB class required
-
SBAR communication method used
-
Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration

Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
-
AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred but not required
-
Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required

Circulating skillset for C-sections required
-
Experience in labor and delivery management, antepartum care and procedures, and obstetrical patient triage
-
Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor, delivery, triage, and antepartum settings
-
Circulate for cesarean section procedures as needed
-
Facility is smoke and nicotine free
-
Scrubs provided
-
Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 - March 31), with exemption requests subject to CMS guideline compliance
-
Floating, if required, will be in rotation with client staff per facility policy and Joint Commission standards

Up to 7 non-billable hours of training modules required during orientation

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
-
RTO requests should be minimal and submitted upfront, as no RTO will be approved after offer acceptance

Holiday coverage expected during the assignment
