Job Overview
Want to make a positive impact on your community and help save lives? Our growing fire protection company is looking for an experienced fire alarm technician to help us start and grow our fire alarm division.
This position will be our first dedicated fire alarm technician and will perform inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, service, and repair of commercial fire alarm systems, as well as programming for new fire alarm system installations. Additional training will be provided as needed for company processes, reporting, and ongoing professional development.
Candidates must have good communication skills, be able to take meticulous notes, be competent with computers and technology, and have a strong working knowledge of fire alarm systems.
Work is full-time Monday-Friday with rare instances of Saturday work or after-hours service needs (we want our employees to have their weekends off with their friends & family whenever possible!).

Technician Responsibilities
- Drive to facilities around the state (primarily in the Wichita Metro area) to conduct fire alarm system inspections, testing, & maintenance.
- Conduct fire alarm troubleshooting, repairs, programming support, and deficiency corrections.
- Program new fire alarm system installations.
- Enter inspection data electronically & generate inspection reports.
- Record deficiencies and the necessary labor, materials, and equipment needed to correct them.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and fire alarm software while performing service work.
Technician Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of fire alarm technician experience.
- Ability to inspect, test, troubleshoot, service, and repair commercial fire alarm systems.
- Competent in use of computers, technology, mobile inspection software, and fire alarm programming/service tools.
- Decent writing skills and ability to document deficiencies clearly.
- Good communication with customers, office staff, inspectors, and team members.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work overhead as needed throughout the workday.
- Ability to climb ladders and work from ladders, lifts, or elevated areas when required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to work in mechanical rooms, ceiling spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and other commercial facility areas.
- Ability to distinguish audible alarms, visual notification appliances, device indicators, and wire colors.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with reasonable accommodation.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fire alarm technician - (Required).
Education
- High school education or equivalent - (Required).
Certifications
- NICET - Fire Alarm (Preferred)
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
