Key Requirements and Qualifications

Certification: Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Science (Grades 4–8 or 6–12, as applicable) in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education guidelines (Bulletin 746).

Education: Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Science, Elementary/Secondary Education, or a related field (e.g., Biology, Physical Science, Environmental Science).

Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience is frequently preferred.

Content Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Louisiana Student Standards for Science for grades 5–8, including life science, physical science, earth and space science, and scientific inquiry, as well as curriculum implementation.

Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills; effective classroom management; ability to facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based instruction; ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs; and ability to use data-driven instruction to improve student achievement.
