Position Summary
The Security Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily security operations, managing the on-site security team, and ensuring a safe, secure environment for shoppers, tenants, and staff. This role acts as the primary liaison between mall management, the security contractor, and local law enforcement. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, sharp situational awareness, and excellent crisis-management capabilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Management
- Supervise & Schedule: Oversee a team of security officers, including assigning posts, coordinating patrol routes, and managing shift schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage.
- Training & Development: Conduct on-the-job training for new hires on mall layouts, emergency procedures, customer service standards, and specialized systems (CCTV, fire panels).
- Performance Evaluation: Monitor officer performance, provide constructive feedback, and administer disciplinary actions or recognition as necessary.
Operations & Patrols
- Site Inspection: Conduct regular foot and mobile patrols of the interior mall common areas, exterior perimeters, parking structures, and loading docks to identify safety hazards or security vulnerabilities.
- Access Control: Monitor and manage access to restricted areas, service corridors, and employee entrances.
- CCTV & Dispatch Oversight: Ensure the smooth operation of the security control room, verifying that surveillance systems and radio communications are maintained efficiently.
Incident & Crisis Management
- Emergency Response: Serve as the first line of command during emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, severe weather, missing children, or active security threats.
- De-escalation: Intervene in and peacefully resolve verbal or physical conflicts among patrons, guests, or tenants.
- Investigation & Reporting: Conduct detailed investigations into theft, property damage, accidents, or slip-and-falls. Author clear, comprehensive incident reports and maintain daily logs.
- Liaison: Coordinate directly with local police, fire departments, and emergency medical services (EMS) when first responders are called to the property.
Tenant & Customer Relations
- Public Relations: Maintain a visible, approachable, and professional presence to assist mall patrons with directions, inquiries, or lost and found.
- Tenant Support: Act as a point of contact for mall retailers regarding security concerns, shoplifting prevention, and after-hours access.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in security operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team-lead role (experience in retail, property management, or high-traffic environments preferred).
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is a plus.
- Certifications:
- Valid state-issued Security Guard License.
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Fire Life Safety (FLS) or relevant fire guard certifications are highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for report writing and team briefings.
- Proficiency with security tech, including CCTV systems, digital incident reporting software, and MS Office.
- Excellent conflict-resolution and de-escalation tactics.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Pay: $23.00 per hour
