Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cleaner/Light Office Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team. This energetic role is vital in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our office spaces and common areas. Willowtree can provide cleaning products and is open to purchasing of your recommended cleaning materials. Must be willing to address all office spaces at least once a week: Merrillville, Rensselaer, and Logansport. Employee hired for this role will be able to create their own schedule. Must be able to drive to and from offices.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to uphold high standards of sanitation and cleanliness. This could also include organization of materials within the office, and restocking items in the office.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners efficiently and safely.
- Handle chemical agents with care, following all safety procedures for storage, mixing, and application to ensure a safe environment.
- Conduct light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, repairing minor fixtures, and touch-up painting to keep facilities in excellent condition.
- Assist with custodial responsibilities during special events or after-hours cleaning to ensure spaces are ready for use.
- Follow safety protocols during all cleaning and maintenance activities, including proper manual handling techniques for heavy lifting and equipment use.
- Collaborate with the facilities team on larger maintenance projects or repairs as needed to support overall building operations.
Qualifications
- Proven janitorial or custodial or cleaning experience with a strong understanding of commercial cleaning procedures.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and sanitation tools.
- Knowledge of chemical handling safety procedures and proper use of cleaning agents.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting in accordance with safe lifting practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and visitors.
- Basic facilities maintenance skills including light repairs, painting, and general upkeep.
- Prior porter or custodial experience is preferred; training will be provided for specific tasks as needed.
