Responsible for assisting in the inspection and maintenance of the water storage tanks, water towers, and other areas within the distribution system for the corporation. Conducts condition assessments and providing weekly, monthly, and annual feedback to the Production Superintendent. Assists in the daily and scheduled maintenance throughout the distribution system to ensure compliance with TCEQ regulations as well as proper and continued operation of the equipment and storage items. Participates in job specific training, and other various required corporate training programs; Complies with federal and state regulations and all established corporate policies and procedures. Other duties as may be assigned.
A self-starting individual who possesses a High School Diploma or G.E.D and a valid Texas driver license. Must be insurable by the Corporation’s insurance underwriter. Must obtain a Certificate of Competency from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for Water Operator DC and Customer Service within twelve months of hire, and then work towards attainment of Grade C Distribution and Customer Service Inspector license, and is required to maintain certification thereafter. Must be familiar with established principles and methods used in water sample collection, handling, and transport. Must be willing to work towards and to pursue additional water licensing from the TCEQ. Must be willing to become current with the following schools: Unit I Water, Utility Safety, Unit V Water Distribution, Unit IV Surface, and Water Laboratory. Strong communication skills are required in order to effectively present information to employees and management of the Corporation. Must be fluent in English (written and verbal). Mathematics skills are required in order to apply data to formulas that determine treatment requirements, flow levels, and concentration levels. Must possess good judgment as well as exercise discretion in the performance of daily duties. Must be well groomed (no beards), as the position requires the use of a safety gas mask. Must be able to work a flexible and rotating work schedule during the workweek and occasional weekends and have the ability to be on call 24 hours a day. Position requires the handling of various chemicals such as chlorine, alum, ammonia, lime, and other acids and reagents. Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as well as toxic or caustic chemicals. May work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions where exposure to extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration may exist. The noise level is generally loud in this environment. It is recommended to obtain immunization against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Hepatitis A, and Hepatitis B.
Prior relevant maintenance experience is preferred. Customer Service Inspector license and C Distribution Water license are preferred.
