Hadwell Hardware is a local family owned hardware store in Trafalgar, IN that specializes in septic and drainage supplies. We also have a full lumber yard, as well as, a complete line of Valspar paint, garden center and all other hardware needs. Lastly we are an Elite Stihl Dealer.
Position Overview
Hadwell Hardware is looking for a friendly, dependable Cashier / Customer Service Associate to join our team. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and helping customers find the products and services they need.
Our team takes pride in offering knowledgeable help and hometown service to our community. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, stays organized in a fast-paced retail environment, and is willing to learn about hardware, tools, and outdoor equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers as they enter the store
- Assist customers in locating products and answering basic questions
- Provide friendly and helpful service that reflects Hadwell Hardware’s commitment to the community
- Direct customers to the appropriate department or team member when specialized assistance is needed
Cash Register & Transactions
- Accurately operate the cash register and point-of-sale system
- Process cash, credit card, and account transactions
- Handle returns and exchanges according to store policies
- Balance cash drawer at end of shifts
Store Support
- Help maintain a clean and organized checkout area
- Restock small items and merchandise near the front of the store
- Assist with answering phone calls and directing inquiries
- Help with basic store tasks such as bagging purchases and loading small items
Additional Duties
- Assist with services such as propane refill or directing customers to sharpening services
- Support team members during busy periods
- Perform other duties as assigned by store management
- Inventory and price management
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to handle cash and operate a register accurately
- Comfortable standing for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally
- Retail or customer service experience preferred but not required
Work Environment
- Fast-paced retail environment

- Saturday availability is required
