Cornerstone Counseling Center is excited to launch our school-based outpatient mental health services in Naugatuck Public Schools for the 2026–2027 school year and is hiring 8 School-Based Mental Health Clinicians.
This is an exciting opportunity to help establish a new school-based mental health program while receiving the support, supervision, and resources of one of Connecticut's fastest-growing behavioral health organizations.
We have openings at the:
- Elementary School Level (PreK–Grade 4)
- Intermediate School Level (Grades 5–6)
- Middle School Level (Grades 7–8)
- High School Level (Grades 9–12)
Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their preferred age group(s) during the application process. Placements will be based on clinician preference, experience, and district needs.
Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking clinicians are strongly preferred due to the needs of the community; however, all qualified clinicians are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary
The School-Based Mental Health Clinician provides outpatient behavioral health services within assigned Naugatuck Public Schools.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting behavioral health assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Providing individual, family, and collateral therapy services.
- Collaborating with school personnel, families, medical providers, and community partners.
- Participating in student support meetings, PPT meetings, and multidisciplinary consultations.
- Coordinating referrals and continuity of care when clinically appropriate.
- Maintaining timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
This is a daytime outpatient position embedded within the school setting. Clinicians become valued members of their assigned school communities while receiving ongoing support from Cornerstone's experienced leadership team.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited program.
- Active Connecticut licensure as an LMSW, LCSW, LPCA, LPC, LMFTA, or LMFT.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel, families, and community providers.
Preferred
- Previous school-based or pediatric behavioral health experience.
- Experience providing trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment.
- Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking clinicians are strongly preferred due to the needs of the community; however, all qualified clinicians are encouraged to apply.
