Job Description
As a Slitter Helper / Set-Up Operator, you will assist the Slitter Operator with setting up production runs, loading and unloading steel coils, and ensuring the slitting line operates safely and efficiently. We will provide training on our equipment, processes, and safety procedures to help you develop the skills needed for advancement within our operations.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting up the slitting line for production runs.
- Load and unload steel coils using overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Band, package, and label finished coils for shipment.
- Assist the Slitter Operator with tooling changes and machine adjustments.
- Perform quality checks to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Maintain an organized work area and keep equipment clean.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Assist in shipping, receiving, and other production areas as needed.
- Be willing and able to work overtime when necessary.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
- Overhead crane and forklift experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle steel materials.
- Basic computer skills for production reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to stand for 8+ hours and perform physical work in a manufacturing environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
