As the Maintenance Director you are critical in maintaining all internal and external aspects of the Healthcare facility and grounds. Your work will ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they have grown to expect by overseeing and supervising all aspects of the maintenance department, ensuring the facility and grounds meet all related safety codes and ensuring that equipment and systems maintenance schedules are monitored and followed.

Maintenance Director Duties
The Maintenance Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the maintenance department in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and established company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the facility is well-maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
- Manages the operations of the Maintenance Department by adhering to proper staffing and scheduling of personnel.
- Inspect storage rooms, work rooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc. for upkeep and supply control.
- Participates in facility surveys made by authorized governmental services.
- Ensures that outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders.
- Assists in establishing a preventative maintenance program.
- Makes daily rounds to ensure that maintenance personnel are performing required duties and ensure that appropriate maintenance procedures are being followed to meet the needs of the facility.
- Maintains fire alarm and other fire protection and preventive systems.
- Completes carpentry and other building repairs within the scope of expertise.
- Monitors, maintains and records inventory and orders supplies as needed to ensure supplies are available as needed
- Heads snow and ice removal for the sidewalks
Maintenance Director Requirements
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.
- 2 or more years’ experience working maintenance in long-term care.
- Must have, as a minimum, one year’s experience in a supervisory capacity, in a maintenance-related position.
- Working knowledge of multiple systems relevant to nursing home maintenance (ie., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and life safety systems.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
- Must be able to handle calls outside of normal work hours for maintenance emergencies.
