Plaintiff -side Litigation Attorney
We're looking for a litigator who wants to own cases, not just work on them.
Our boutique plaintiff's firm represents residential tenants in wrongful eviction, constructive eviction, and other housing litigation cases throughout the Bay Area. While our practice focuses on tenant rights, we're ultimately looking for an exceptional litigator. Someone who enjoys developing case strategy, spotting opportunities others miss, and moving cases forward.
If you're the kind of attorney who naturally asks, "What else can we do here?" instead of waiting for direction, you'll fit in well.
This is an opportunity to join a growing boutique firm where your judgment will be valued, your work will have a direct impact, and your career can grow well beyond the associate attorney level.
What You'll Do
You'll manage your own litigation matters with meaningful autonomy while working closely with our partners and legal assistants when collaboration adds value.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing cases from intake through resolution
- Developing litigation strategy and identifying opportunities to maximize case value
- Taking and defending depositions
- Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation filings
- Negotiating settlements and preparing cases for mediation and trial
- Working directly with clients throughout the litigation process
- Preparing cases for trial, with opportunities to take on increasingly significant courtroom responsibilities
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines strong litigation skills with sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and initiative.
The attorneys who succeed here are people who:
- Take ownership of their cases
- Think strategically instead of simply checking off tasks
- Identify legal and factual issues that create leverage
- Make thoughtful decisions and move matters forward without constant supervision
- Enjoy solving difficult legal problems
- Want to build a long-term career and eventually take on greater leadership within the firm
Experience in landlord-tenant law is not required. We can teach the practice area. What matters most is your ability to think critically, write persuasively, develop strategy, and execute at a high level.
Qualifications
Required:
- Active California Bar membership in good standing
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- At least three years of California civil litigation experience
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- Experience drafting and arguing law and motion
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage litigation matters
Preferred:
- Plaintiff-side litigation experience
- Trial experience
- Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese proficiency
- Experience with landlord-tenant law
Why Join Our Firm?
This is a place where talented litigators can accelerate their careers.
Because we're a boutique firm, you'll have real responsibility from day one. You'll work directly with clients, help shape litigation strategy, and have opportunities that are often reserved for much more senior attorneys at larger firms.
We're looking for someone who wants more than just another associate position. We want someone who is excited to grow with the firm, take on increasing responsibility, and build toward partnership.
