Positions in this job family provide administrative or professional support for departments, programs, divisions, and other organizational units. Administrative support work may be directly related to business operations, administration and clerical support. Responsibilities in this family address the general management of institution operations at the unit and/or department level. Typical functions include broad unit business operations, ancillary services management, clerical/secretarial support, etc.
JOB DUTIES
Manages the daily operations and functions of assigned department.
Plans and organizes departmental meetings and training sessions.
May be responsible for maintaining department director’s calendar.
Assists in development of administrative departmental operating policies.
May coordinate and plan special events and activities.
Serves as department liaison for customers and responds to inquiries and general information requests.
Prepares and composes special project reports, correspondence of a confidential and complex nature, letters, memoranda, and other documents.
Composes routine correspondence, types, formats and proofreads memos, letters, forms, manuscripts, and grant proposals.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. In lieu of educational requirements, experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Experience: 2-4 years of related experience. Must type 50 WPM. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred from a regionally accredited college or university
- Experience working in an academic and clinical setting with matrixed reporting relationships is also preferred.

Employment in this role may be contingent upon extramural funding and successful performance and may be terminated or reduced in percentage of appointment if such funding is not secured or ceases to be available.
