Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting treatment plans, procedures, and patient information in electronic health records (EHR) Dentrix.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote long-term oral health.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards aligned with healthcare regulations like HIPAA, to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software Dentrix for charting, scheduling, and documentation review.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines and other diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices to maintain a sterile environment.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively.
