Active membership in the California State Bar, and at least eight (8) years of legal experience in the practice of law.
The SOQ is a narrative of how your experience, training, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities qualifies you for this position. The SOQ also serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Resumes, cover letters, and other documentation DO NOT take the place of an SOQ. Applicants who do not submit an SOQ will be disqualified. Applicants who do not follow the instructions or who submit an incomplete SOQ will be disqaulified.
Instructions for SOQs: SOQs must have the applicant’s name at the top of the first page, be no longer than five (5) pages in length, and use 12-point font. Applicants must provide a response to the following three topics—repeating each topic as a heading—then providing a response under each topic heading:
1. Describe your experience and approach to supervising, coaching, leading and mentoring attorneys or legal staff. Include examples of how you have led team members, supported professional growth, and ensured high quality work.
2. Summarize your interest in the Attorney Supervisor position and how your prior experience qualifies you for the position.
3. Identify up to five (5) matters in which you have served as lead counsel in either (a) a civil or criminal court trial, or (b) administrative hearing that lasted more than one day (including morning and afternoon sessions), or (c) writ proceeding, or (d) appellate matter, by (1) case name, (2) court or administrative hearing forum, and (3) issue(s).
