At the Wenatchee Valley YMCA, our Child Watch program provides a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment where children can play, learn, and build positive relationships while their parents or caregivers utilize YMCA facilities and programs. The Child Watch/ Kid Zone Lead is responsible for providing quality supervision and care for children while maintaining a clean, safe, and nurturing environment.
This position creates positive experiences for children and families through active engagement, attentive supervision, and exceptional customer service. Child Watch/ Kid Zone Leads model YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility while supporting the YMCA's mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Child Supervision & Safety
- Provide direct supervision, care, and positive interaction for children.

Ensure children are safe, engaged, and appropriately supervised at all times.

Comfort, hold, and assist infants and toddlers as needed.

Reinforce positive behavior management techniques and age-appropriate expectations.

Assist children with restroom needs while maintaining appropriate supervision and safety practices.

Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, incidents, and injuries according to YMCA procedures.

Ensure compliance with all YMCA child protection, safety, health, and risk management standards.
- Monitor child check-in and check-out procedures and verify authorized pick-up procedures.

Maintain accurate attendance records and complete required documentation.

Complete accident reports, incident reports, and other required program records in a timely manner.

Conduct routine cleaning, sanitizing, and organization of the Child Watch/ Kid Zone space throughout each shift.

Inspect toys and equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

Ensure program areas remain clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate.
Member Service & Youth Development

Create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and families.

Greet children and parents warmly and provide excellent customer service.

Build positive relationships with children, parents, caregivers, members, and guests.

Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and social interaction.

Support children's social, emotional, and physical development through play and engagement.

Promote YMCA values and serve as a positive role model for children and families.
Other Position Functions:
- Engage members and encourage community-building, helping members connect with one another and with Y programs and services.

Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings, and special activities.

Collaborates with other departments, supporting special projects and cross-departmental service needs.
