Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Plan and execute efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure on-time deliveries across OTR routes.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring proper cargo handling for logistics cargo safety.
- Transport automobile parts, freight, or hazardous goods over long distances while maintaining compliance with FMCSA and DOT standards.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Load & unload cargo accurately, verifying shipment contents against delivery documents.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delays, or safety concerns to optimize delivery schedules.
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers preferred.
- Proven delivery driver experience with knowledge of route driving and logistics cargo handling.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, Hazmat transportation, and dangerous goods handling.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning on OTR routes.
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols.
- Experience loading/unloading freight manually or using equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Strong manual handling skills for safe cargo management in various truck types including roll-off trucks and flatbeds.
