Position Description: The CNC Lathe Machine Operator plays a crucial role in our operations by producing machined parts through setting up, and operating a CNC lathe machine. The operator is responsible for maintaining safety and quality standards, documenting procedures, and ensuring equipment and supplies are properly maintained to support the achievement of Masterbilt’s business goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Study work orders, part blueprints, materials, specifications, engineering plans, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, collets, and indicating vices.
- Observe operations, take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls, sharpen and replace worn tools, and adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
- Complete preventive maintenance requirements.
- Complete production and quality logs.
- Participate in educational opportunities; read technical publications.
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.
Qualifications and Competency Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Minimum of two years of manufacturing experience required
- Minimum of two years of CNC Machining experience required
- Proficient with CNC Lathe machines.
- Understand and accurately complete all job-related paperwork.
- Proficient in using micrometers, calipers, and simple gaging tools.
- Strong blueprint reading skills to ensure accurate part processing.
- Ability to work independently and closely follow directions
- Fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques
- Fundamental knowledge of CNC machining/manufacturing machining principles
- High level of attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication skills (both interpersonal and written).
- Willingness to embrace and actively support the unique culture and values of Masterbilt
- Ability to focus on the tasks and details relevant to the position, while also switching quickly between tasks
- Ability to comply with and pass all required background check and drug screening requirements, including but not limited to pre-employment and random drug screening as required/requested.

- This position is typically performed in a production environment and requires the ability to stand for extended periods of up to 6–8 hours. Duties involve frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items. The role requires regular use of hands for operating equipment, keyboarding, and writing, as well as the ability to read, respond, and communicate effectively throughout the day via phone, in-person, and computer. The individual must be able to listen, problem-solve, and respond appropriately in a fast-paced setting, while demonstrating fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. This position also requires the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. on a sporadic basis.
Work Schedule: The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday with hours based on a production environment, with occasional nights and weekends, depending on the needs of the position and the organization.
