Our Work: Concrete Curb and Paving was established in 1982 and exclusively paves concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks and drive lanes for new residential land development/construction around the Denver metro area. The Position: We are seeking a high-skill Motor Grader Operator to lead our site preparation. You will be responsible for building, leveling, and excavating land surfaces to exact specifications. At CCP, we don't rely on automation to do the thinking—you must be an expert at working with stringline to ensure precision grade for our curb and flatwork crews. You will operate John Deere 6 and 7 series graders to ensure every foot of dirt meets our "best in class" standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Grading & Site Prep
- Build, level, and excavate land surfaces using John Deere 6 and 7 series motor graders.
- Achieve precision finish grade using stringline and physical markers to ensure perfect concrete placement.
- Perform soil scarification and apply proper compaction techniques to meet engineering requirements.
- Set blue top hubs and consistently read grade to maintain tight tolerances.
- Occasionally operate support equipment including water trucks, scrapers, and rollers to assist in site prep.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all dirt work passes moisture and density testing.
- Prepare surfaces for proof rolling by inspectors to ensure site readiness.
- Work closely with the Foreman and Project Managers to ensure the grade is 100% accurate before the paving crew arrives.
- Inspect machinery daily (greasing, fueling, and safety checks) and report any maintenance needs to the mechanic.
Safety & Field Operations
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all CCP safety protocols.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure efficient material movement and site housekeeping.
- Represent CCP professionally on-site when interacting with inspectors and client representatives.
Administrative & Documentation
- Submit daily field reports detailing progress and production.
- Maintain accurate equipment logs and demobilization checklists when moving machinery.
- Track and report any out-of-scope work or site challenges to the General Superintendent.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Motor Grader Operator in a civil construction or land development setting.
- Proven ability to read grade and interpret construction stakes/plans.
- Expert experience with stringline grading, soil scarification, and setting blue top hubs.
- Ability to operate a water truck, scraper, and roller as needed.
- Strong communication skills and a "Hungry" attitude toward problem-solving.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
