Our client in Carver, MA is currently hiring a 1st/2nd shift Yard Jockey. This is a temporary position running from September 21st - November 6th. *Newly Licensed Class A Drivers Encouraged to Apply!
Available Shifts:
- 1st Shift: Monday-Friday and Saturday | 7:30am to 4:30pm
- 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday and Saturday | 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently moving trailers and equipment throughout the yard, loading docks, and designated areas to support warehouse and transportation operations.
- Operate yard trucks to move trailers between docks, staging areas, and yard spaces
- Perform routine pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment
- Communicate with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and drivers to coordinate trailer movements
- Maintain an organized yard to support efficient operations
- Verify trailer numbers, seals, and shipping documentation as needed
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues
- Follow all safety protocols and DOT regulations
- Assist with basic loading/unloading as required
- Keep work area clean and organized
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Previous experience as a yard jockey, yard driver, or switcher (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to safely operate yard trucks and other heavy equipment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
