Sales Engineer / Outside Sales Representative
Territory: Southern Illinois
Base Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 Depending on experience

A leading distributor specializing in cutting tools and metalworking solutions is seeking a Sales Engineer / Outside Sales Representative in Southern Illinois to support sales growth and build strong relationships with tooling manufacturers, machine shops, and OEMs.
Sales Engineer / Outside Sales Representative Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with tooling manufacturers, machine shops, and OEMs through proactive sales activity across cutting tools, metalworking solutions, and industrial equipment.
- Drive new business growth by identifying opportunities to introduce carbide tooling and metalworking solutions, and value-added technical services into existing and prospective accounts.
- Provide consultative sales support by recommending cutting tools, tooling systems, and productivity-enhancing solutions tailored to CNC machining and manufacturing requirements.
- Manage a full sales pipeline through a CRM system from prospecting to close.
- Execute territory sales strategies to achieve revenue and margin objectives while monitoring competitor activity and industry trends.
Sales Engineer / Outside Sales Representative Requirements:
- Prior experience working with cutting tools, CNC machining, machine tool accessories, or other metalworking products within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- 2+ years of sales experience within metalworking / metal cutting is highly preferred; however, we are open to candidates with a CNC machining or CNC programming background who are looking to move into technical sales.
- Willingness to travel within your territory to meet with tooling manufacturers, machine shops, and OEMs.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to Southern Illinois.
- Valid driver’s license.
Additional Information:
- Experience with cutting tools, carbide tooling, CNC machining, or metalworking fluids strongly preferred.
- Background in machine shop environments, tooling distribution, or CNC programming highly desirable.
- Territory-based outside sales role with regular customer visits across Southern Illinois.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
