Position Summary
Xtreme Metals is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Estimator to support our sales and operations teams by preparing accurate material takeoffs, fabrication estimates, and customer quotes. This position plays a critical role in converting project plans and specifications into profitable, competitive proposals.
The ideal candidate will have experience with metal fabrication, metal building components, roofing and wall panel systems, and estimating software. They must be able to interpret construction drawings, calculate material quantities, understand fabrication processes, and communicate effectively with both sales and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Perform accurate material takeoffs and quantity calculations.
- Utilize estimating software and industry tools to prepare detailed quotes.
- Generate customer proposals and pricing packages for the sales team.
- Calculate labor, material, fabrication, freight, and miscellaneous project costs.
- Coordinate with production and purchasing teams regarding material availability and lead times.
- Understand manufacturing capabilities and fabrication limitations when developing estimates.
- Evaluate project requirements and identify potential risks, omissions, or opportunities.
- Assist sales representatives with technical product information and project scope reviews.
- Maintain pricing databases, material costs, and estimating templates.
- Follow up on submitted quotes and provide revisions as needed.
- Ensure estimates meet company profit margin and pricing objectives.
- Participate in project handoff meetings for awarded work.
QualificationsRequired
- Experience in construction estimating, metal fabrication estimating, or related industry.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- Knowledge of metal building systems, roofing panels, trim, flashing, and fabricated metal products.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred
- Experience with metal building manufacturers and component systems.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with ConstructConnect, PlanSwift, or similar construction software.
- Knowledge of structural steel, commercial roofing, or architectural metal systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing workflows and production scheduling.
