AVICO Distribution is a family-owned foodservice distributor that has served Upstate New York for over 95 years. We deliver to restaurants and pizzerias and sell directly to businesses and the public through our cash-and-carry store. We're hiring a Store Sales Manager to lead our front-end team and grow sales — a role for someone who is a salesperson first and a store operator second.
What you'll do You'll be the face of our store: building relationships with restaurant, pizzeria, and walk-in customers, growing baskets and accounts, and following up on leads — while also keeping the front end running smoothly. You'll lead the cashier team, oversee cash handling, help with inventory and product flow, and solve customer issues on the spot. Roughly 80% of your focus is selling and customer relationships; the rest is running a clean, well-staffed, accurate front end.
Sales & customer growth (your main focus)
- Drive sales by building relationships with new and existing customers and identifying their needs
- Develop new business through leads, referrals, and product recommendations
- Stay current on products, pricing, promotions, and competitors, and share that value with customers
- Resolve order, pricing, and product questions quickly and professionally
Store & front-end leadership
- Lead, schedule, and mentor the cashier/front-end team to keep wait times low and service high
- Oversee accurate transactions, cash reconciliation, and compliance with cash-handling procedures
- Support inventory, stocking, pricing accuracy, and a clean, organized store
- Make sound day-to-day decisions to keep operations running
What we're looking for
- A competitive, results-driven salesperson who enjoys winning over customers
- 2+ years in sales, retail, or foodservice; supervisory experience a plus
- Foodservice/restaurant background (kitchen, BOH, or food sales) strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with POS systems, basic retail math, and Microsoft Office
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet in a fast-paced store
- High school diploma or equivalent
