Position: RN-Behavioral Health
Shift: Varied Full Time 3rd shift (36 hours – 12 hour shift), and Full Time 2nd shift (32 hours – 8 hour shift)
Duration: Full-Time/Permanent - Direct Hire
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Pay: $28.90 - $41.00 (based on experience) per hour PLUS benefits
$8,000 - $12,000 Sign-On Bonus!!
Shift Differentials:
- 7am-3pm: Saturday & Sunday at $1.25 extra per hour
- 3pm-11pm: Monday – Thursday at $2.00 extra per hour
- 3pm-11pm: Friday – Sunday at $3.00 extra per hour
- 11pm-7am: Monday – Thursday at $4.00 extra per hour
- 11pm-7am: Friday – Sunday at $5.00 extra per hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health and Psychiatric care to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing services to patients experiencing mental health challenges, including assessment, intervention, and ongoing support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in psychiatric nursing, demonstrate excellent patient care skills, and be committed to promoting mental wellness within diverse populations.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status examinations and vital signs, to inform individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including psychiatric medications and adjunct therapies.
- Monitor patient responses to interventions, managing side effects and adjusting care accordingly.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans.
- Provide patient education on medication adherence, coping strategies, and relapse prevention.
- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques during acute behavioral episodes.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards.
- Proven experience working with individuals experiencing mental health disorders or behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications, including psychotropic agents and their administration.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes.
- Strong assessment skills, including understanding of physiology, mental health evaluation techniques, and medication management.
- Experience working in diverse settings such as inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, or community mental health programs.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, professionalism, and cultural competence.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification; additional certifications such as CPR or crisis intervention are preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and working with individuals with developmental disabilities is advantageous.
