Project Overview:
E-Logic, Inc. is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to provide critical technical support to the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Soldier Center (DEVCOM-SC), Combat Feeding Division (CFD) , specifically supporting the Joint Foodservice & Engineering Team (JFET) at the Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC) in Natick, MA.
This role directly supports the DoD Combat Feeding Research and Engineering Program (CFREP) , contributing to the development of revolutionary military field feeding systems. The Engineering Technician will analyze, operate, and troubleshoot high-fidelity technical systems and electronic control automation devices, supporting cutting-edge technologies in high-efficiency fuel-fired combustion appliances, COTS food service sanitation, cooking technologies, and expeditionary equipment.
This is a full-time, on-site position with a stable contract structure (1-year base + 4 option years), offering the opportunity to work at the forefront of military food service innovation directly impacting Warfighter readiness and sustainment.
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical support to Project Officers developing military field feeding systems, including prototype testing and evaluation of food service equipment assets.
- System Operation & Troubleshooting: Operate and troubleshoot various electric and fuel-fired food service equipment and high-fidelity prototype technologies.
- Alternative Energy Testing: Support technical set-up and testing of alternative energies, fuel-fired heating systems, and COTS automated electric appliances.
- First Article Testing (FAT): Support set-up, testing, and evaluation of First Article Test units in support of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support (DLA-TS) procurement efforts.
- Submarine Food Service Upgrades (SFSU): Provide set-up, test, and evaluation support for SFSU equipment.
- Market Research: Conduct market research analysis on revolutionary technologies in high-efficiency fuel-fired combustion appliances, COTS food service sanitation, cooking technologies, and expeditionary equipment.
- Project-Specific Support: Provide technical support for key projects including:
- Applied Materials for Thermal Energy Management and Storage (AM-TEMS)
- Insulated Food Container / Insulated Beverage Container - Improved (IFC/IBC-i)
- Navy Shipboard Equipment Lifecycle Program Upgrade
- Scalable Combat Feeding Platform (SCFP) - including M59 Field Range and Airtronic burner testing
- Submarine Food Service Upgrades (SFSU)
- Food Production Support: Assist with food production runs, including production line assistance, capping, labeling, packaging, and palletization.
- Warehouse & Logistics Support: Maintain organization and logistical support of the motor pool warehouse area, including forklift operation.
- Laboratory Support: Assist with gas cylinder replacement, liquid nitrogen filling, and CFD boiler operations supporting tube food production and autoclaving biological waste.
- Documentation: Submit monthly progress reports detailing project support and accomplishments.
- General Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience with Military field feeding equipment.
- Specialized Experience: Demonstrated experience and understanding of the analysis, operation, and troubleshooting of high-fidelity technical systems and electronic control automation devices, specifically:
- High-efficiency fuel-fired combustion systems
- Food service sanitation technologies
- Cooking technologies
- Expeditionary equipment
- Forklift Certification: Forklift experience and training; ideally Government (Army SAFE) specific training to include 4k, 5k, and 15k certifications.
- Federal Supply System: Familiarity with using the current federal supply system to ship and receive equipment.
- Security Clearance: No security clearance is required for this position; however, must be eligible for installation access and a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Availability: Must be available to work on-site at Natick Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA.
- ServSafe Certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience with ASTM standards and their application to testing commercial food service equipment.
- Experience with pouch fabrication and sealing of samples for experimental storage studies.
- Experience with product demonstration extrusion and form-filled sealing activities.
