Senior Project Manager – Structural SteelSummary
Structural engineering company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead structural and miscellaneous steel projects from contract award through completion. This role oversees multiple projects simultaneously and ensures delivery that is safe, on time, and within budget.
The Senior Project Manager partners closely with estimators, detailers, fabrication teams, erectors, and general contractors to drive successful project execution and maintain strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple structural and miscellaneous steel projects from award through closeout
- Ensure compliance with all contractual terms and project requirements
- Monitor budgets, costs, and profitability across assigned projects
- Coordinate schedules, materials, and fabrication timelines with internal teams and subcontractors
- Attend job site meetings and perform field measurements as needed
- Provide regular project updates and status reports to leadership
- Review construction drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy and constructability
- Coordinate with contractors, detailers, and field/plant teams throughout project execution
- Maintain complete and accurate project documentation (RFIs, submittals, change orders, correspondence)
- Foster clear communication among clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Business preferred
- Degree may substitute for up to 5 years of relevant experience
- Equivalent experience in structural steel fabrication or erection will be considered
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience managing structural steel construction projects, or
- 5+ years as a Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or Assistant Project Manager with additional experience in detailing, drafting, or 3D modeling
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices
- Familiarity with AISC standards and AWS welding codes
- Ability to read and interpret structural and shop drawings
- Experience with large commercial and industrial steel projects
- Familiarity with Tekla or similar 3D modeling systems
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines
Tools & Technology
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Tekla or similar 3D modeling software
- Standard office equipment (computer, phone)
Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
Experience:
- Structural Steel: 5 years (Required)
- Tekla: 3 years (Preferred)
