Job Summary
The Kennel Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of a busy pet care facility, ensuring exceptional care and service for all animals and clients. This dynamic position involves managing kennel activities, supervising staff, and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment. Duties
- Supervise daily kennel operations, including animal intake, feeding, cleaning, and overall facility maintenance
- Assist with dog training sessions to promote good behavior and socialization
- Handle animal restraint and behavior management to ensure safety for pets and staff
- Support veterinary procedures by assisting veterinary technicians or assistants during exams and treatments
- Provide pet grooming, pet sitting, and basic veterinary care as needed to ensure animals are comfortable and healthy
- Manage customer interactions by providing excellent service, answering questions, and addressing concerns with enthusiasm
- Oversee staff scheduling, training new team members in animal handling, pet care protocols, and customer service standards
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper heavy lifting techniques when moving animals or equipment
Experience
- Proven experience working with animals in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or pet care setting
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and behavior management strategies
- Veterinary technician or assistant experience highly preferred
- Strong animal handling skills including restraint and care procedures
- Background in pet grooming or pet sitting is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting and long periods of standing or walking
