1. General Overview:
Product development, integrating specifications, applications, and innovation to design and develop equipment, products, and instruments.
2. Responsibilities
- Perform R&D for technology, trends, and new products.
- Design and engineer components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies
- Utilize templates to document project specifications, issues, requirements, and data types
- Conduct tests and evaluations of equipment instruments or components to eliminate the source of failure and to perfect the accuracy, feasibility of assembly and maintenance, and suitability of the design.
- Co-ordinates with the production engineering department to insure the preparation of all pertinent drawings and specifications for manufacture. All drawings and specifications must be approved prior to the release of the product to production.
- Design modifications and component substitutions in instruments as necessary. Insures changes are incorporated into the drawings, tooling, and purchase specifications.
- Designs, builds, and develops prototypes to meet specifications.
- Develops a working relationship with specialists in areas of technology involved in design both in-house and outside vendors.
- Develops technical information and specification through test reports and disseminate the information to engineering, purchasing, sales associates, and marketing representatives.
- Stays updated on competitive developments, new materials, and methods as background for design approaches.
- Interaction with the engineering team, quality, manufacturing, and production
- Occasional interaction with customers or vendors
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS - Qualifications: 7+ years of experience with product development, manufacturing, and production in automotive
Education Requirements: BSME or equivalent engineering degree
Preferred Skills: Engineering documents, Solidworks, PDM
