Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pediatric Billing & Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is responsible for accurate coding, claim submission, and follow-up on pediatric services for timely reimbursement. The ideal canidate has experience with medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-10)
Responsibilities
- Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) codes, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
- Ensure accurate coding for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments in accordance with current coding guidelines and payer requirements.
- Prepare and submit clean claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to insurance companies and third-party payers.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation gaps that impact coding accuracy.
- Stay current with updates in medical terminology, coding standards (ICD-9, ICD-10), and insurance policies affecting pediatric billing practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a pediatric healthcare setting or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, ICD-9 (if applicable), CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with medical records management and understanding of medical office workflows.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation, coding, and billing processes.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate code assignment and claim submission.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and patients’ families.
