Summary Description:
Perform welding operation on authorized products that require cosmetic weld repairs and reworks castings as required.
Essential Functions:

Welds castings with the use of a tig welder.
-
Ensures area requiring weld is cleaned by grinding the area to guarantee a proper weld.

Reports any castings that cannot be repaired to department leader to be disposed of properly.

Maintains an appropriate supply of gas, welding rods and other supplies required to perform the welding function.

Submits record of welded product to QC daily.

Maintain welding area clean.

Conducts rework on castings requiring repairs using air tools and grinding belt.
-
Remove welds and blends in imperfections.
-
Removes excess material and/or repairs casting imperfections found on casting by the inspection process.

Records rework information in shop floor manager the entering the required information.

Performs duties of Packaging inspector when there is no welding work.

Perform all other job-related tasks as assigned.

Comply with Company’s safety policies and procedures.
Packaging inspector:
-
Review shop card attached to basket to understand what you are looking for when inspecting castings.
-
Pick up and visually inspect each casting to the specifications outlined on the shop card.

Use liquid weld to fill small holes and polishing clothe to blend into casting when dry.

Give larger defects to Department Lead to have welded or scrapped out.

Place box onto a skid and place castings into the box keeping track of how many castings are in the box.
- Place cardboard between each layer of castings to prevent dings or damage to the castings during travel.

Keep accurate counts of each layer of castings.

Add up each layer for a grand total of castings inside the box.

Give paperwork to Shipping Coordinator

Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:
Skills or Experience Required:
Must have High School diploma or GED.
Must have Tig Welding Experience
Must be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids:
Manual hand truck, and/or motorized hand truck
Tig Welder
Safety Rules & Functions:

Keep all flammable materials at a minimum of 20’ away from welding operations.

Store compressed gas in the upright position, caps on, and chained in place.
-
Shut gas off at the burner handle and at the tank.
-
Keep weld booth curtains closed during welding.
-
Notify Supervisor when weld booth curtain needs repaired or replaced.
