Over the years, Sierra Neurosurgery Group has focused on bringing a range of surgical expertise into the practice. The result is an incredibly well rounded group of neurosurgeons, interventional pain specialists, and a team of highly skilled nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical assistants and support staff. We are a high volume, successful neurosurgery practice requiring dedication and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
What’s required?
- Minimum: twelve (12) months' experience in working in a physician practice.
- At least one (1) year of experience in pain procedure/surgery scheduling
- Ability to work with patients and make them feel comfortable.
- Working knowledge of managed care, commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and Worker's Compensation.
- Knowledge and understanding of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding for specialty with one (1) year of experience.
- High level of organization and attention to detail with working knowledge of practice management software.
- Proficient with practice management software and all Microsoft Office programs.
- Must demonstrate high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and in a calm and pleasant manner.
Duties include:
- Schedule surgery/procedure for the Interventional Pain Management provider, according to physician protocols. Assign assistant for surgery/procedure if needed.
- Coordinate with patient the surgery/procedure date, pre-operative testing appointment and pre-operative appointment with our office. Complete templates associated with surgery (Surgery checklist, VA patient status, medical clearance, etc.). Create a surgery/procedure packet with all information.
- Screen patient for any medical issues.
- Obtain and fax orders, H&P, pre-op tests, consults and clearance to the hospital for the following day's procedures.
- Confirm all patients scheduled for the following day.
- Communicate with Assistants and Appointment scheduling regarding schedule changes or cancellations and doctor availability with cancellations or changes to schedule for surgery and assists.
- Release surgical lines at facility according to guidelines.
- Obtain pre-certification/prior authorization from insurance companies for all surgeries/procedures, tests, consults and other procedures requiring prior authorization. Document in system.
- Obtain pre-certification/prior authorization for all return office visits requiring authorization. Document in system.
- Respond to written and telephone inquiries from patients and carriers regarding planned surgery, testing, consults, etc.
