POSITION SUMMARY
The Count Team is accountable for the accurate soft count of all funds generated during the preceding gaming day, performed within a secured count room under continuous surveillance. The position works to a strict, documented sequence in which precision, dual control, and complete recordkeeping matter more than speed. All work is carried out in accordance with NGG internal control policies and the rules and regulations of the Washington State Gambling Commission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Count Room Operations
▪ Tally the currency, chips, and coin generated during the preceding gaming day, working within a secured count room that remains under camera coverage.
▪ Enter all counted funds onto the master gaming reports.
▪ Verify drop box contents against accompanying paperwork and confirm that each box is accounted for.
▪ Operate currency counters, sorters, and related count equipment, and confirm calibration before the count begins.
▪ Prepare, package, and transfer counted funds to the cage, obtaining the required signatures on transfer documentation.
▪ Identify counterfeit, damaged, or foreign currency and process it under the applicable procedure.
▪ Provide support on pull tab audits when called upon.
Controls and Compliance
▪ Follow the count sequence exactly as written, including dual control and the presence requirements that govern the count room.
▪ Notify surveillance at the start and conclusion of the count and whenever the count room is entered or exited.
▪ Observe all restrictions on personal belongings, pockets, and outside items in the count room.
▪ Report any variance, overage, shortage, or procedural irregularity to the Accounting Manager without delay.
▪ Complete and retain count documentation in the manner and for the retention period required by regulation.
▪ Support currency transaction and suspicious activity reporting by escalating qualifying activity as directed by NGG procedure.
▪ Understand and comply with Washington State gambling regulations and the internal control policies and procedures established by NGG.
▪ Hold and keep current a Washington State Gambling Commission card room employee license and any other credential the position requires.
Workplace Standards
▪ Report for the count on time, in uniform, and ready to begin at the scheduled hour.
▪ Keep the count room clean, orderly, and secure, and follow all safety rules.
▪ Use of a personal mobile device anywhere on the gaming floor is not permitted while on the clock; undivided attention to the job is expected throughout the shift.
▪ Finish all assigned training, including compliance and refresher training.
▪ Carry out additional assignments as directed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, and Training
▪ Completion of high school, a GED, or comparable practical experience.
▪ Prior work involving the handling of cash.
▪ Must be able to secure a Washington State gambling license.
▪ Applicant must have reached the age of eighteen (18).
▪ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required
▪ Hands-on understanding of cash handling practices, paired with knowledge of Washington State gambling regulations and rules.
▪ Sustained focus sufficient to manage several concurrent tasks.
▪ Works effectively alongside teammates within a confined room.
▪ Presents a tidy, professional image and maintains sound personal grooming standards.
▪ Proficient in spoken and written English, including reading comprehension.
▪ Precision and close attention to detail are required when completing regulatory paperwork.
▪ Competent in the four basic mathematical operations across all units of measure, whether working in whole numbers, fractions, or decimals.
▪ Skilled in ten-key entry and the operation of currency counting equipment.
▪ Ability to follow detailed written procedures exactly, without deviation.
▪ Comfortable performing all work under continuous surveillance coverage.
▪ Discretion in handling confidential financial and gaming information.
▪ Availability for early morning start times, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The role is performed in a high-tempo casino setting. Extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting are required, as are speaking, hearing, writing, and fine finger and tactile manipulation. Lifting and carrying of up to thirty pounds (30 lbs.) is required, and heavier loads on occasion. Reaching with the hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling occur regularly, and the incumbent may be exposed to swings in temperature at either extreme.
The count is conducted seated or standing for sustained periods and involves repetitive hand and wrist motion in handling currency and coin. Cash boxes require lifting and carrying. Work takes place in a windowless secured room with elevated noise from counting equipment and continuous camera coverage. Schedules commonly begin in the early morning and include weekends and holidays.
