Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Plumbing Estimator to join our construction team. Duties
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine plumbing material and labor requirements.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Analyze project plans to identify potential challenges and develop accurate pricing strategies that align with project budgets.
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously, ensuring timely submission of bids that are competitive yet profitable.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best pricing on materials and services, maintaining strong vendor relationships.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and design teams to clarify scope and refine estimates as needed.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets, applying cost control techniques when necessary.
- Review construction schedules and coordinate with site teams to understand project timelines and resource needs.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals including material quantities, pricing breakdowns, and scope of work details.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and innovative estimating techniques to continuously improve accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, and other construction management tools.
- Excellent blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated expertise in cost management, material cost estimating, and pricing strategies for plumbing systems.
- Solid understanding of construction industry standards, safety protocols, and site operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
- Effective negotiation skills combined with excellent client communication abilities.
- Construction site experience is highly preferred to better understand field conditions impacting estimates.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup is essential; familiarity with Xactimate is a plus.
