Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Piping Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development of detailed piping and mechanical system designs for complex projects across various industries. Your expertise will ensure that all piping layouts, schematics, and documentation adhere to industry standards and client specifications. Duties
- Develop comprehensive piping layouts, schematics, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using advanced Revit tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, NavisWorks, and BIM software.
- Create detailed 3D models of piping systems and mechanical components utilizing SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, and other 3D CAD modeling platforms.
- Ensure all designs comply with ASME codes & standards, GD&T principles, and industry best practices for system integrity and safety.
- Collaborate closely with process engineers, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to optimize system design for manufacturability and installation efficiency.
- Prepare accurate CAD documentation including schematics, assembly drawings, fabrication details, and technical reports.
- Conduct design reviews and coordinate revisions based on project requirements or client feedback.
- Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools to facilitate integrated project delivery and clash detection during construction phases.
- Support construction teams by providing technical guidance on piping installation procedures and resolving design issues on-site.
- Maintain meticulous records of design changes, version control using PDM software, and ensure all documentation aligns with project timelines.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Piping Designer or Mechanical Designer in industrial or infrastructure projects with a focus on piping systems.
- Extensive knowledge of CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, NavisWorks, SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, Pro/ENGINEER, and related tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, system design processes, and piping standards such as ASME codes & standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models for complex piping layouts and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with GD&T practices for precise component manufacturing specifications.
- Experience working with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for integrated project delivery.
- Construction experience is highly desirable to understand field installation challenges.
- Excellent technical writing skills for preparing clear reports, specifications, and documentation packages.
- Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis), 3D animation for visualization purposes, and P&ID schematics is a plus.
