Job Title: Bar and Restaurant Manager

Position Summary
The Bar and Restaurant Manager oversees all daily food and beverage operations for
the Sunbury Social Club. This hands-on leadership role manages our fast-paced bar
(serving club members and their guests) and our public-facing casual dining room and
outdoor patio along the Susquehanna River. The ideal candidate balances strict
compliance with private club beverage laws alongside high-volume hospitality
management during peak summer entertainment seasons.
Core Responsibilities
- Staff Leadership: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise front-of-house servers, bar
staff, and kitchen prep teams.
- Hands-on Service Support: Actively step into service roles—including working
shifts as a line cook or bartender—to cover staffing shortages, manage sudden
volume spikes, or control labor costs.
- Bar Operations: Maintain speed, accuracy, and high-quality service at the main
bar during high-volume shifts and live music events.
- Member Relations: Cultivate a friendly, family-oriented environment while
professionally handling feedback and enforcing code-of-conduct guidelines.
- Inventory & Vendor Control: Track liquor, beer, food, and club supplies. Order
stock within budget constraints and manage waste.
- Regulatory Compliance: Strictly enforce Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board
(PLCB) rules. Verify member status and ensure all bar staff maintain active
RAMP compliance.
- Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate daily with the Banquet Hall &
Catering Manager to optimize shared kitchen space, balance labor, and transition
staff smoothly between member dining and private events.
Position Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of food and beverage management experience,
with a heavy emphasis on high-volume bartending or bar management.
- Certifications: Active PA RAMP (Responsible Alcohol Management Program)
certification required. ServSafe food safety manager certification preferred.
- Legal Knowledge: Familiarity with PLCB regulations regarding membership-
based private club liquor licenses.
- Physical Availability: Capability to stand for long intervals and work late nights,
weekends, and holidays.
Essential Skills
- Operational Pace: Ability to lead a floor team in real-time during peak windows
like weekend live music or Wednesday wing nights.
- De-escalation Skills: Firm, professional approach to enforcing club rules,
managing guest limits, and cutting off intoxicated patrons safely.
- Financial Aptitude: Comfort working with POS systems (JarTrek or similar
system), tracking labor hours, managing cash drawers, and reporting
performance metrics to the board.
$45,000 – $48,000 ($21.63 – $23.07 hourly equivalent) Strong bartender or shift
supervisor stepping into their first manager role.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
