About the Job:
The Mohs Technician plays a critical role in supporting Mohs micrographic surgery by performing specialized laboratory procedures and ensuring accurate and timely processing of surgical specimens. This position works closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical team in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining strict laboratory and safety standards.
What You’ll Do:

Perform tissue mapping, inking, embedding, cryostat sectioning, staining, and slide preparation for microscopic evaluation

Receive, verify, process, and prepare surgical tissue specimens for Mohs procedures

Maintain accurate specimen tracking, labeling, documentation, and chain of custody

Ensure specimen integrity and support efficient surgical workflow through rapid turnaround times

Operate, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including cryostats

Maintain laboratory inventory, supplies, and equipment

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, and safety standards

Collaborate and communicate effectively with surgeons, providers, and clinical staff

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment
Who You Are / Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Experience in a medical office, surgical setting, dermatology practice, laboratory, or related healthcare environment required

BLS certification required
-
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:

Associate degree in a healthcare or laboratory-related field

Completion of a medical assistant, histology, surgical technology, or related training program

Prior Mohs laboratory experience

Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Mohs Technician, HT (ASCP), Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist)
