The Research Lab Technician is responsible for supporting the testing, development, and formulation of new products. This role works closely with highly skilled chemists and technical professionals to support both internal and external customers through laboratory testing, product evaluation, data collection, and research activities.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, problem solving, and contributing to innovative product development initiatives.
Previous research laboratory experience is preferred.
This is a first-shift position (Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) in an air-conditioned, state-of-the-art laboratory. Occasional overtime may be required.
Essential Functions
- Produce, prepare, and test sample batches.
- Perform rheological testing using a rheometer to evaluate product viscosity and material performance.
- Conduct physical and chemical testing of products, raw materials, and formulations.
- Maintain accurate records of product development activities, testing results, and laboratory observations.
- Prepare test data, reports, and samples for product submissions and customer evaluations.
- Evaluate and test new supplies of raw materials.
- Maintain raw material documentation and submit SDS information for samples as required.
- Submit new gauges and instruments to Quality Assurance for calibration record initiation.
- Perform annual testing requirements and maintain associated records.
- Assist with laboratory organization, equipment maintenance, and general housekeeping.
- May be responsible for handling hazardous waste in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and safe work practices involving chemicals and process equipment.

Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
Experience
- Previous research laboratory, quality laboratory, product development, materials testing, or manufacturing laboratory experience preferred.
- Experience with rheometers, viscometers, material testing equipment, or analytical laboratory instrumentation is highly preferred.
- Experience working in a chemical, polymer, plastics, coatings, adhesives, or manufacturing environment is a plus.
Starting Wage
- Starting at $19.00 per hour, with consideration given for relevant education, laboratory experience, and technical skills.
