English Teacher
Job purpose
The purpose of this job is to provide personalized learning and fun activities for children in grades 6-12
The instructor is responsible for the instruction, care, supervision, and management of a class of students with a large variety of special needs in accordance with the goals and curriculum plan of House of Academia.
Duties and responsibilities
The primary job duties and responsibilities for this position include (but not limited) to the following:
- Provide instruction to special needs students while meeting IEP goals.
- Genuine care for students and the learning process.
- Follow the provided school curriculum.
- Prepares 3-4 activities per session based on the curriculum.
- Provide experiences that promote individual expression through conversation, play, and creativity
- Use equipment and supplies safely and conscientiously, keeping the physical environment clean and orderly
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children
- Maintain regular communication with parents, as well as the Director/ Assistant Director, and contribute to the effective operation of the overall education center
Qualifications
Qualifications include (but not limited to):
- Must have a warm and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families
- Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program
- Must be reliable and have reliable transportation
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with special education students
- Must be able to pass a background screening
