Job Summary
The Metrologist 2 is responsible for supporting the Metrology team in providing service for lab equipment across all departments. The Metrologist 2 will perform intermediate in-house calibrations on equipment such as torque testers, mixers, balances, and ovens. The Metrologist 2 will also provide back-up support for coordinating and scheduling vendor-related services for calibrations. Documentation and record keeping of calibration certificates and data sheets will also be maintained by this position per cGMP guidelines and will follow 21 CFR Part 820. The Metrologist 2 will maintain awareness of industry regulations pertaining to calibration such as ISO 17025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.
- Performs intermediate in-house calibrations of equipment.
- Provides primary in-house calibration support.
- Monitors and maintains integrity of calibration standards.
- Investigates and resolves basic discrepancies within calibration documentation.
- Acquires data sheets and documented calibration, inspection, testing, and repair activities.
- Diagnoses intermediate mechanical and electrical equipment problems.
- Tracks, stock and orders all necessary calibration and repair components.
- Verifies repaired equipment functionality prior to release.
- Can calibrate > 80% of all equipment in database.
- Participates in Metrology continuous improvement projects.
- Follows-up with customer to ensure scheduled activities are completed.
- Assists in execution of equipment qualifications and change control summary plans.
- Provides internal customers with technical details in support of equipment non-conformances.
- Manages equipment sent off-site.
- Assist with on-the-job training of lower-level technicians.
- Supports the calibration and maintenance database.
- Assists in monthly equipment status review.
- Practice and demonstrate awareness of applicable safety guidelines and standards.
- Assist in coordinating and scheduling vendor related calibration services.

- Stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lifting/moving and carrying products weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration and/or moderate noise levels.
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals or other materials.
- Safety Shoes with Impact and Compression Protection Must be worn.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma and 2-4 years related experience, or AA and 1-3 years related experience, or BS and 0-2 years related experience
- ASQ Calibration Technician Certificate a plus
Skills
- Knowledge of cGMP guidelines and familiar with 21 CFR Part 820.
- Maintains awareness of industry regulations pertaining to calibration (e.g., ISO 17025).
- Intermediate knowledge of calibration procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of schematics.
- Intermediate electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Solid computer skills: Proficiency in Windows based MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Working knowledge of Agile and Oracle
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Highly organized.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $79,700 - $124,800 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
