Compensation
- $16.19 per hour with full benefits
- $20.95 per hour with limited benefits option
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Housekeeping Aide performs routine semi-skilled and skilled housekeeping duties throughout the nursing facility. Responsibilities include operating cleaning equipment, maintaining sanitation standards, and supporting a healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, hallways, bathrooms, bathing suites, common areas, staff areas, and storage areas on a scheduled basis
- Operate housekeeping equipment including vacuums, carpet shampooers, floor machines, and chemical dispensers
- Separate and properly dispose of trash, recyclables, and hazardous materials
- Restock paper goods, soaps, detergents, and cleaning supplies
- Maintain housekeeping equipment and storage areas in clean, safe condition
- Perform scheduled sanitizing of beds, furniture, and windows
- Monitor supply levels and notify supervisors of shortages
- Attend required meetings, in-services, and training sessions
- Respond to emergency situations and assist with evacuation if necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Honest, dependable, and of good moral character with a caring demeanor
- Current CPR Certification required
- Must complete orientation and ongoing in-service education
- Physical exam and required TB testing within 10 days of employment (chest x-ray if indicated)
- Negative Health Care Worker background check
- Ability to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Physical Requirements
This position requires continuous physical activity, including:
- Lifting up to 40 pounds
- Pushing/pulling carts and equipment weighing over 200 pounds
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, and reaching overhead
- Working in confined spaces and occasionally at heights
- Continuous exposure to cleaning chemicals and healthcare environments
- Ability to hear alarms, follow verbal instructions, and detect odors such as smoke or gas
Work Environment
- Primarily indoor work in a well-lit, climate-controlled nursing facility
- Frequent interaction with residents, families, and staff
- Regular exposure to cleaning equipment, chemicals, and infectious materials
