Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Unified Communications Technician specializing in Audio/Video (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems to join our dynamic technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex communication systems across various enterprise environments. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain AV and VTC systems, including video conferencing hardware, microphones, speakers, and displays.
- Perform fiber splicing, structured cabling installation (including Cat5, Cat6), and low-voltage electrical wiring to support communication infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and telecommunications testing equipment to identify faults accurately.
- Conduct network installation tasks involving Ethernet cabling, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and computer networking components.
- Perform fiber optic systems installation and testing, including fiber termination and splicing to ensure high-quality signal transmission.
- Support CCTV system setup and maintenance to enhance security and surveillance capabilities.
- Utilize schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to guide installation and repair activities.
- Conduct radio frequency (RF) testing to verify wireless communication integrity.
- Assist with power tools and hand tools during installation or repair projects while adhering to safety standards.
- Collaborate with clients to provide exceptional customer service by clearly communicating technical information and resolving issues efficiently.
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer in telecommunications or AV/VTC environments.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, cable termination, structured cabling installation (including Cat5e/Cat6), and low-voltage electrical wiring.
- Familiarity with telecommunication systems such as Avaya telephony platforms and VoIP solutions.
- Knowledge of computer hardware setup, network wiring configurations, LAN setup, and data center environments.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools for equipment troubleshooting across diverse telecommunication systems.
- Experience working with Cisco routers, Juniper networking devices, and Ethernet switches.
- Understanding of NEC electrical codes related to low-voltage wiring installations.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical diagrams accurately for system installation or repair.
- Service technician experience in IT infrastructure or data center environments is highly desirable.
- Strong electrical skills including AC/DC systems knowledge; familiarity with power tools is essential.
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced settings.
