Part-Time Surgical Prior Authorization & Administrative Coordinator:
This position will help manage the non-clinical, administrative, and financial aspects of surgical scheduling, imaging, and patient care. It is a great position for someone highly organized, dependable, detail-oriented, proficient in navigating computer technology/EMR systems, who has great interpersonal communication skills and can manage many moving pieces at once.
You’ll help with:
- Managing surgical authorizations: Complete surgical prior authorization submissions and maintain payer-specific documentation requirements.
- Coordinating logistics: Track authorization timelines, approval numbers, expiration dates, resubmission requirements, and communicate with facilities.
- Processing imaging requests: Handle prior authorizations for MRI and CT scans, submit clinical evidence, and manage peer-to-peer coordination.
- Navigating patient finances: Conduct phone calls to review insurance benefits, expected out-of-pocket costs, and complete financial consent processes.
- Organizing medical records: Obtain preoperative clearances, secure external documentation, and maintain complete records for clinical staff review.
- Streamlining office workflow: Schedule pre-op and postoperative appointments while providing necessary payment documentation to the front office.
- Controlling quality: Utilize standardized checklists to reduce denials, track pending authorizations, and monitor insurance denial trends.
Medical office or insurance experience is helpful, but it is not required. We can teach the medical and insurance side of the position. What we really need is someone who is organized, learns quickly, follows through, and takes ownership of their work.
Experience in pharmacy, dental or medical offices, insurance, scheduling, retail management, inventory, order fulfillment, or similar work could translate very well to this position.
