Required Qualifications:
1. Washington State Teacher’s Certificate with endorsement in k-8
2. Satisfactory evaluations
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ability to use/learn Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point Software programs, as well as learn Accelerate and other on-line delivery systems.
2. Awareness of characteristics and needs of students seeking participation in alternative educational setting such as a virtual and on-line learning environment.
3. Ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles-basic levels and extensions beyond basics.
Ability to instruct and support virtual students with various ability levels.
4. Demonstrated success in maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
5. Training and experience in working with an online curriculum, Powerschool, and Schoology.
6. Willingness to work with an alternative curriculum for students who need an alternative curriculum delivery system.
7. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and maintain computer hardware and network connections.
8. Experience teaching multisubjects and be willing to oversee k-8th grade students and multiple grade levels.
9. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
1. Be able to maintain/troubleshoot computer and network problems remotely for students.
2. Enroll students in appropriate coursework provided through MCP Online, provide appropriate individual and group instruction as needed, and monitor student progress in their coursework.
3. Develop effective working relationships with the Counselor that serves MCP Online.
4. Communicate regularly with students and parents, as well as document all A.L.E. requirements.
5. Incorporate technology into the instructional process.
6. Be a “team” player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.
7. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
8. Be innovative and committed to the challenge of change in education, and be willing to help develop courses as needed.
9. Work with teachers and departments in developing individual prescriptive programs for each student.
10. Be committed to success for all children.
11. Be flexible and cooperative in schedule changes and accommodating in other needs for use of facility.
12. Participate in building wide programs including teaching, technology, violence prevention, multi-cultural education, study skills, and social skills.
13. Demonstrate ability to provide leadership and guidance to the youth leadership requirements of the program.
14. Set up Learning Center courses for off-site/remote access.
15. Prepare and record student progress reports.
16. Develop and maintain record-keeping procedures for the smooth operation of the online learning, timely transference of accurate academic data into PowerSchool, and safe archiving of records.
17. Learn the A.L.E. requirements and adhere to all the guidelines and required paperwork needed by the state.
18. Be willing to work in an ALE environment.
19. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
