Position Overview
Visualize LTC Eye Care is seeking a dependable and compassionate Mobile Medical Assistant to join our growing team. In this role, you will work directly alongside an Optometrist, providing clinical support while delivering eye care services to residents in nursing homes throughout Brooklyn and surrounding areas.
This is a mobile position, not a traditional medical office role. You will travel daily to different healthcare facilities, assisting with patient care, diagnostic testing, and documentation. Schedule
- 4 days per week (Monday–Thursday)
- Approximately 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Daytime schedule only
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare patients and examination records prior to the provider visit.
- Coordinate with nursing staff regarding patient availability.
- Perform fundus (retinal) imaging and submit images for Optometrist review.
- Assist the Optometrist during patient examinations as needed.
- Obtain and document patient information accurately.
- Assist patients with eyeglass fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs when needed.
- Complete and submit all required electronic documentation daily.
- Communicate with the office regarding patient updates and daily workflow.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate approach while working with elderly residents and healthcare staff.
Mobile Travel Requirements
This is a field-based position requiring travel throughout Brooklyn and surrounding areas.
Applicants must have:
- A valid driver's license.
- A reliable, registered vehicle available for daily work travel.
- The ability and willingness to travel up to one hour from their home base when needed.
- Comfort working at multiple nursing home locations throughout the day.
Mileage, gas, and tolls are fully reimbursed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, Ophthalmic Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, or similar clinical role.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in nursing homes or long-term care facilities.
- Experience with electronic medical records and Google Workspace preferred.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Compensation & Benefits
- $20.00–$24.00 per hour (based on experience)
