Duties
- Monitor and observe patients’ physical and emotional states, ensuring their safety at all times through attentive patient observation and documentation.
- Implement behavior management strategies and behavioral interventions to support clients in managing their symptoms and improving daily functioning.
- Assist with medication administration following proper protocols, including medication records documentation and adherence to medical terminology standards.
- Respond swiftly to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and physical restraint techniques when necessary, always prioritizing safety for clients and staff.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and follow individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Maintain accurate medical records, document patient progress, and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding patient monitoring and behavioral health concerns.
- Support clients with activities of daily living, fostering independence while providing compassionate psychiatric patient care in a respectful manner.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in acute care settings or psychiatric hospitals is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health conditions, including crisis prevention and intervention skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient monitoring techniques, and behavioral health hospital procedures is essential.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and physical restraint methods is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations within behavioral health or corrections facility medical clinics.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction, documentation accuracy, and team collaboration.
- Experience with medication administration protocols and managing medical records securely.
