American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring critical care skills including IABP, Impella, and CRRT experience with a compact or LA RN license.

Work in a mixed cardiac and medical ICU (ICU MedSurgical A) setting
-
Patient population includes DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator-dependent patients
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients
-
Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
-
Every other weekend required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
No floating required
-
13-week assignment length
-
Active RN license (Louisiana or compact) required
-
BLS certification via AHA required
-
ACLS certification via AHA required
-
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
-
One year of experience in Critical Care setting preferred, but new graduates will be considered

Required experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP)
-
Required experience with Impella devices
-
Required experience with post-op cardiovascular surgeries
-
Required experience with CRRT
-
Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned ICU patients
-
Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
-
Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness
-
Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided
-
Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers
-
New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with completion of organizational and Critical Care-specific competency validations

All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire

Annual competency verification requirements must be completed
-
Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility for local candidate eligibility

Candidates who have previously worked at any CHRISTUS facility must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for this travel assignment
