Basic Job Description:
Performs skilled tasks related to diesel engine service and various types of trucks, tractors, and power pack units. Mechanical and hydraulic repair, maintenance, and installation of various types of equipment will be required at times. Typically said is equipment is powered by a diesel engine and HPU or driven from a tractor PTO. Our primary focus is to support clients in any market with diesel engine, hydraulic, or fabrication needs. We have key clients in the capillary tubing and chemical delivery markets. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, assembly, and testing of diesel engines, trucks, tractors, electrical systems, HVAC systems, etc. Currently we have Cummins, Navstar (N10), MaxxForce DT, Cat C-15, and other engines in our fleet. Tasks may not always be rigidly defined and some adaptability is required.
Summarized Duties and Assignments:
Required duties below are not inclusive but include the following:
· Performs minor and major repairs on trucks, tractor, engines, machinery, etc.
· Use diagnostic equipment to test, adjust, and repair vehicles (light and medium duty)
· Dismantle and reassemble engine components
· Examine components for damage or excessive wear (visual, micrometer, gauges, etc.)
· Charge and repair truck HVAC system
· High mechanical and hydraulic (fluid power) aptitude
· Works with all departments to ensure cohesive fabrication, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
· Works with sister companies when necessary
· Understands (or willingness to learn) our hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
· Inspect, repair, and diagnose issues with electrical circuits
· Exercises latitude and high initiative in determining technical objective and assignments
· Occasional travel could be required
· Other duties as assigned by manager
Education and Experience
· 5+ years’ experience as a diesel mechanic
· ASE Diesel Certification preferred, but not required
· CDL preferred
Standard Working Hours
Minimum working hours for this position are 7AM to 3:30 PM, Monday thru Friday. Overtime may be required at times. Effective communication with your supervisor is imperative regarding scheduling conflicts and time off.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
