Full Job Description

Local Contract RN in the Operating Room for a 13‑week assignment in or near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The role delivers expert cardiovascular and thoracic nursing care in a fast‑paced surgical environment, supporting surgical teams and ensuring patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver expert cardiovascular and thoracic nursing care in a busy OR.

Collaborate with surgical teams to prepare, instrument, and assist during procedures.

Monitor patient vitals and anesthesia, addressing abnormalities promptly.

Document patient care accurately in the EMR, including pain scores and meds.

Assist with instrumentation, manage case equipment, and maintain readiness.

Uphold sterile standards throughout surgical procedures.

Coordinate equipment and supplies for efficient workflow.

Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate care.

Respond to intraoperative emergencies with timely interventions.

Ensure accurate documentation of intraoperative details.

Prepare patients for surgery and post‑operative care transitions.

Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program; RN license required
BLS certification required
CPR certification required
Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR or cardiovascular operating room experience
Experience working independently in a fast‑paced surgical environment
Ability to work 8‑hour day shifts 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday
Ability to handle rotating call shifts, approximately 2–3 nights per month
Strong communication and critical thinking skills

Preferred Skills:

Previous travel experience preferred
ACLS certification preferred
